Corky Knows (The Dog Who Knew Superman)
During the first season of the Adventures of Superman, Connie and Ace learn that Superman and Kent are the same person. At the end of "The Stolen Costume," however, that happy couple conveniently fall off a mountain, and Superman's secret is preserved. That is, until season two when Corky sniffs his way into Clark Kent's life. His furry friend survives ... but in my opinion, "The Dog Who Knew Superman" (S2E9) features the saddest ending in the entire series.

The Jupiter Stakes

The Kentucky Derby will run today, May 4, 2024. But that's not the only horse race in town. In keeping with the day, let's check in on the Jupiter Stakes, shall we? Along with the "Superman" regulars seen here are Janine Perreau as Alice and Bill Kennedy as the announcer. Kennedy was also the unseen person who announced the intro to every "Superman" episode. "Yes, it's Superman, strange visitor...

After becoming radioactive, Superman seeks refuge in a remote mountain cabin until he can find a way to "decontaminate" himself. With crime increasing and Lois Lane in danger, time is running out.

In 1953 Superman was called upon to save Metropolis from a nuclear disaster. I never thought about how real such a situation could be until 1979's Three Mile Island incident (close to where I live).

After Clark Kent, uses his super hearing to learn the details of a planned armored car robbery, he must convince Henderson of the facts and then capture the crooks ... as Superman! In some of the earliest episodes Superman is still an unknown figure to some people in Metropolis as indicated by Davis' line, "Stay away from me, whoever your are, or I'll shoot." Davis is played by Tris Coffin (Kin...
Lois & Jimmy Have the Powers of Superman

"All That Glitters" is the final episode in the "Adventures of Superman." Directed by George Reeves, this is a fanciful tale in which Jimmy dreams that he and Lois have all the powers of Superman ... including the ability to fly. Featured in this episode are Dick Elliott as the banker and Myrna Fahey as his secretary. Almost ten years later, Fahey appeared as Blaze in episodes 17/18 of "Batman....
Perry White Baits the Trap

In "Perry White's Scoop," editor Perry White plants a story that he hopes will bring the crooks into the open. And it works almost too well but for Clark Kent and his his friend Superman.

This is not a "startling and important disclosure" like the one the man in the diver's suit gave to Perry White in "Perry White's Scoop," but perhaps interesting nonetheless. And for me, it's always fun to find something I hadn't noticed before.

In Superman episode 42, Lois Lane and Clark Kent ask Rollo (Billy Wayne) to appear on the Daily Planet telethon. Former partner and ne'er-do-well, Crackers (played by Peter Brocco), schemes to take his place and steal the proceeds. If you pay close attention to the episode, you'll notice that even though it's supposed to be Crackers (Brocco) who steals the money, it actually is Billy Wayne unde...
Mr Zero to the rescue

During its six-season run, the ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN presented a variety of stories that featured a range hard-hitting crime dramas, tales of science fiction, and human interest stories. And some were designed as just plain fun for the kids. Filmed in 1956, "Mr Zero" featuring Billy Curtis as a man from Mars who was exiled to Earth for being too small was obviously designed as one of those "ju...
The Crooks Outline Their Plan

In the second to last episode of the "Adventures of Superman," a gang of men in lead masks attempts to exact revenge on Clark Kent, Perry White, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen. Fortunately, Clark Kent is first on their list, and as they prepare to lower "Mister Nosey Reporter" into the vat of acid, they conveniently outline their entire plan to the one person who can save them all. But just like in...

"Around The World With Superman" (1953) is not without some conflict and frustration, but basically, it's an episode filled with warmth and hope. In this clip, watch as Superman and Ann leave, supposedly through the window. I'm pretty sure, however, that George Reeves actually steps up onto a box by the window and "hides in the corner" as the others watch Superman fly away with Ann in his arms....

"The Whistling Bird," a second season episode of SUPERMAN, is often overlooked, but it gives us plenty to like. Sterling Holloway is back as Uncle Oscar... and this time he's accompanied by his niece, Nancy, played by Allene Roberts. Jack Larson often told me that he liked working with Holloway and that the veteran actor gave him pointers that improved his performances. There is also an evident...

I always felt like they should of brought Superman back to this time period on the Big Screen.
I agree. All the elements that make Superman great work better, at least for me, in the 40s and 50s.
It's is hokey today, but as a kid it was so great.
Phyllis Coateslois lane
As a seven year old in the 1950s I ate this shit up.
And for me, at least, as a 77-year-old, I'm still enjoying it.
😅😅😅😅😅well information good show you 😅😅😅😅😅
Tem que lançar um filme do super-homem, não caindo na porrada com o Batmam ,maissendo muito superior em comparação com um homem de carne e osso ,sendo mais forte e superior ao homem de aço
My favourite Superman
Frank, I have a headache. Woman who played Perry White's sister played Darrin's mother
First season was the best. Became too slapstick in later years.
He can stop a bullet, but he can't rip the conduit off the wall to keep from getting zapped. lol
Still chokes me up a bit to this day
Looks a little corny today, but when it first aired and I was a kid, it was the best, still enjoy it today, after all them years.
I was a production assistant on this show. The following week dog bit the cleaning lady and the producers euthanized it.
For biting someone? One bite? Thanks for bursting a balloon.
Bull$hit. Why was the dog still there? Nice try.
Agreed in more ways than one. The dog knew the way back home by itself? Shouldn't Kent have asked Jimmy to return the dog?
Apparently Corky was very resourceful. If you recall, he came up the elevator to Kent's office all by himself. I'm sure he could find his way home without help from young Mr Olsen. 🙂
👍👍
I often wondered why superman put his tights on then his pants last this is so so funny😊
Lol, it's pretty funny that a guy that can stop a train would have to punch someone more than once to knock them out 😅
I watch this when I was a kid during the 1960's and on candidation throughout the 70's and than some --- I wouldn't trade those days in for anything. Oh, The Wonder Of It All. 🛬
Esse caraaa aí, o superman é uns dos gêmeos do começo do filme O Vento Levou, vcs sabiam?
I don't know how many others know that, but I am surely aware of it.
You missed one of the best. In “Czar of the Underworld”, Superman says to Inspector Henderson: “That little carbon-monoxide trick was meant for me”. Henderson then quips: “For you?” Superman then corrects himself saying: “I mean for Kent.”
I thought about that one, but he wasn't "teasing" in that instance. Instead it was an actual blunder on Clark's part.
Wow❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a little kid all over again 😊
The same thing always happens to me!
The first several black'n'white seasons of Superman were better than all of the modern Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl episodes combined. Phyllis Coates was the best Lois Lane, too, and Noel Neill a close second.
You can't blame Lois --- those glasses would fool anybody.
I thought he was going to kiss a real woman for real! But this one's in black and white, so it's the first season 1952!
Soopo Man...My HEEEWO. I loved that show.
I absolutely love this !!!
…and then that theme starts playing…
I always loved the crooks in jail at the end of this episode realizing they knew who Superman was, because they'd seen Kent submerged in boiling acid but alive later to tell the tale.
4:29 mark. He would be sued for sexual harassment in today's woke world.
In those days a healthy little girl (or boy) could catch polio from swallowing a bit of water during an outbreak while swimming. Some became unable to breathe and died, the lucky ones were only paralyzed from the waist down. Lives changed in just a day or two. No wonder she kissed him.
S must stand for stupid 😊
Wow, faster than a speeding train, able to leap over tall buildings. Look up in the sky, is it a bird,, etc.. :)
Today was the anniversary of George Reeves murder June 16, 1959
Loved these as a kid, even in black & white, but the Man of Steel, showed what Superman would really be, then Hollyweird had to screw it up.
John Hamilton at the end broke the 4th wall looking directly into the camera. Thats fun
Remembering George Reeves today 6/16. God bless.
With Truth Justice and the American Way
Love how the Flash used this in the newer show. Superman vibrated himself so fast he was able to pass through the wall. I wonder why they never used it again for Superman.
Funny the way that show was made.
Interesting pilot’s uniform😅!
Card player on the right was Phillip van Zandt. Had a small part in Citizen Kane. Also did some 3 Stooges shorts w/Shemp. The first two seasons of Superman were decent, in b&w and the eps were not geared for the kids.
Uhhh...what's going on outside Superman's door? Candygram? (if you look at the doorjamb over his shoulder, SOMEBODY's walkin' around out there)
George Reeves is the best Clark Kent......Metropolis Clark anyway.
😂😂😂
KIDS ❤ SM BETTER THAN BM. BC SM WAS A SCI-FI CHARACTER. WITH SPS. A FLYING MAN... THAT'S GOT SS, BULLET &🔥 PROOF, REALLY FAST. GOT AMAZING ES, WHAT KID DON'T WANTS THEM SPS. BM WAS JUST A MAN...
George Reeves was SYPERMAN
The plot made no sense, They could of just gave the crooks the info backstage
Those last words in the series are haunting.. About not knowing what it would be like to be Superman ' No Jimmy, I guess I never will'... :(
john hamilton didnt have much to say in this episode
